Acquisition of English liaison among Chinese EFL learners from the perspective of language transfer

چکیده

This study aimed to investigate the acquisition of liaison in English by Chinese-speaking learners. Ten second-year postgraduate students non-English majors Tongji University, China, were invited take part an experiment. They asked prepare recordings a set materials, including phrases, dialogues, and talking topic, before after self-study training on liaison. To examine every type their speech, analysed using speech analysis software Praat. The results showed that training, negatively transferred native language (L1) pattern target second (L2). kind negative transfer L1 Chinese L2 could be explained differences between syllables. After substantial improvement phrase dialogue reading. findings are expected help both teachers gain better understanding syllables, thus contributing teaching learning.
